Hi there!

I’m Wendy, the face behind Left Leaning Stitch and lover of all things woolly!

I have been knitting for a very long time - my mum taught me to knit a baby bootie (just the one!) when I was about five years old and it has been a passion of mine ever since. As a former textiles teacher and journalist, I am methodical by nature and have an eye for accuracy and consistency. So it is no wonder that I found tech editing.

I became a qualified knitting tech editor in early 2023, after completing the Cool Wool Designs course run by Carol Ibbetson. Since then I have worked on patterns for independent designers including The Knit Purl Girl  and for global yarn and pattern brands including Urth Yarns.

As well as my work as a tech editor, I am also a designer of textile prints and knitting patterns. I have a degree in Design Education from Goldsmith’s College in London and have a good understanding of what makes a design successful.

I specialise in garments but I am happy to work on toys, accessories and other items.  I can also help you with drawing charts and schematics and grading if that is required.
